Changing drivers is a very tedious and complicated process, so why not use a driver update software? An advanced driver update tool guarantees that you have all new driver versions, confirms that updates are compatible, and provides a backup of your current drivers. Driver backups offer an instant, secure way to restore a driver to an earlier configuration, if needed.
BaseCamp software lets you geotag photos, associating them with specific waypoints. You can see the exact scenery at any given location. The US National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP) shoots high-quality, free satellite imagery (aerial photos stitched together) for the entire continental United States. You can also buy satellite imagery. Often this is unnecessary because you can plan your routes in Google Earth and then send files to your mapping software and device. Satellite imagery is hard to see on most GPS units and is rarely necessary for the backcountry. Like the GPSMAP 66st, some units come with a free subscription to Garmin's database of Birdseye satellite imagery that can be downloaded on WiFi.
Each GPS manufacturer offers software designed to organize, analyze, and display the waypoints and tracks you collect with your GPS. Garmin's Basecamp is our favorite. It's simple, intuitive, cross-platform, and provides everything a basic GPS user needs. For example, you can easily see waypoints or tracks on Google Earth. It is also an essential feature on really basic models like the eTrex 10, which due to its lack of mapping capability, would otherwise be rendered useless.

I downloaded the Etrex data using DNRGarmin (it's free) to a text file; I then brought the file into QGIS using the "Add delimited text layer tool." It's very easy, though you must make sure the data from the garmin isn't corrupted. If it is, it will cause big problems.
I'm using software version 2.70 which I updated some time ago, and I'm having issues with the maps it's not showing my current location and often when I sometimes add geocaches to my device and doesn't often appear in the menu
"This software should only be uploaded to the unit for which it is intended. If this software is uploaded to a GPS unit other than the product it is designed for, it will render the unit inoperative."
I recently bought an etrex 10 and can confirm that having loaded about 30 caches onto it, when selecting go to and then geocaches it only displays the first 19. REALLY irritating if I want to navigate to any of the ones after the closest 19 using the etrex. I can view them on the map and then select one but that's very fiddly when I've loaded a bunch from the same area for a cache blitz...
Actually, Garmins software for many of their uber expensive top of the line GPS units have suffered greatly in the past twelve months.... They are producing pure GARBAGE right now, while focusing on pushing out new products and all but abandoning the current market....
2 In the Garmin eTrex 10/20/30 models, for the first time, the file format is GPX - a public domain format. A very welcome step forward! Such files can be used with a lot of software and on-line mapping.
