Pirates 2: Stagnetti's Revenge is a 2008 film starring Johnny Depp. The film is loosely based on the Rolling Stone magazine article "How Mick Jagger Beat the Rolling Stones" by Ken Scott. It was written and directed by Kevin Lima The Pirates 2: Stagnetti's Revenge full movie was entered into competition at the Venice International Film Festival in 2008 where it won for Best Achievement in Special Effects. The film also received some negative criticism for its perceived poor filmmaking, which included loose continuity, laughably exaggerated computer-generated effects, and lack of humor, compared to its predecessor Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The film opens in 1763 with the execution of pirates Edward Teague and Jack Sparrow. Jack is beheaded by guillotine, while Teague is hung. Captain Jack's ghost appears and guides the young Will Turner to an underwater cave. Will discovers a treasure chest containing a drawing of a key, a map to Davy Jones' Locker, and the Dead Man's Chest. Leaving the cave, Will returns to his ship, only to find it under attack by pirates commanded by Scrum and his lieutenant, Mr. Cotton. Mr. Cotton is eager to claim the Chest for himself and attempts to commandeer the ship, but is tricked by Will and thrown overboard. Cotton drowns in the process, while the rest of his crew are captured by Will's crew. Five years later in 1768, evildoer James "Captain" Cooke boards a British ship in an attempt to find Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones' Locker. He learns of redirecting compass needles to get there. Meanwhile, Jack Sparrow is accompanied by Edward Teague's daughter Carina Smith, who he has rescued from a slave ship. They are both captured by the navy, though Jack escapes. However, he is forced to leave Carina behind. It is revealed that Jack has a debt to Davy Jones for helping him cheat death, and now must find the Dead Man's Chest. He also seeks to apprehend Mr. Cotton's accomplice, the mysterious Lord Cutler Beckett, who was responsible for Jack's arrest in England. The film then moves to Staghound island where Lord Beckett is visiting Governor Weatherby Swann, father of Elizabeth "Elisabeth" Swann from the first two films who is now married with son Henry Turner. She mourns the loss of her father, Captain Hector Barbossa, who is presumed dead after losing his leg to a gunshot wound from Beckett's brigand pirates. Mrs. Swann is told that her father died from a fever and that her husband was hanged for his participation in the mutiny. During their conversation, Elizabeth sees Captain Beckett walking into the cove, but she pretends not to see him. Breckinridge manages to find Elizabeth while she is carrying food to Sparrow who has arrived on the island, but Mr. Swann calls on Jack's bluff and calls him off. cfa1e77820
